    • Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis will fight on the UFC’s February 20, 2021 Fight Night event.
    • The two were slated to fight last November 28, 2020 but the fight was called off after Blaydes tested positive for COVID-19.
    • The Andrei Arlovski vs Tom Aspinall and Trizano vs Alves bouts were also confirmed to take place in the event.

Top 4 heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis will headline the UFC February 20 Fight Night event which will be held at a still to be determined venue.

The UFC has not made the official announcement but multiple sources confirmed the booking to Top MMA sites MMAFighting and MMAJunkie after an initial report made by ESPN.

New Fight Date

Blaydes and Lewis were originally penciled to meet last November 28 at UFC Vegas 15 but Razor tested positive for COVID-19 one day before the event, forcing him off the card. With not time to look for a replacement opponent for Lewis, the UFC also removed the Black Beast from the card with the intention of rebooking the two to a future date.

Blaydes is currently the no. 2 ranked heavyweight in the UFC. The 29-year old former NJCAA Folkstyle Wrestling national champion for Harper College is on the verge of a UFC title shot. Razor has won eight out of his last nine bouts including his last four. In 2020, Blaydes recorded back to back wins over former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos and former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov.

Lewis is the 4th ranked heavyweight contender in the UFC. The 35-year old from New Orleans, Louisiana is a former UFC heavyweight title challenger. Since losing back to back fights to Daniel Cormier and Junior Dos Santos, he picked up three straight wins over Blagoy Ivanov, Ilir Latifi, and Aleksei Oleinik. In his last fight Lewis set the UFC record for most knockouts in the heavyweight division with 11.

Next Title Challenger?

The Blaydes vs Lewis fight is an important bout as it could produce the next UFC heavyweight title challenger. Champion Stipe Miocic is set to defend his belt against top contender Francis Ngannou later this year and whoever wins that bout could end up facing the winner of this fight.

Former light heavyweight champion champion looks to stand between the winner and a title shot. Jones vacated his 205-pound belt last year to focus on his long-awaited move to heavyweight. There are talks that Jones could land a heavyweight title shot in his debut but if Blaydes or Lewis makes a good impression here, Bones may have to wait.

Online sportsbooks believe that Ngannou has the best odds to be the champion at the end of the year. According to, The Predator is a +150 betting favorite to finish the year as the King of UFC heavyweights. Current champion Miocic is next in the oddsboard at +200 while Jones is third at +500. Meanwhile, Blaydes is tied with Ciryl Gane for fourth at +600.

Arlovski, Trizano Also Confirmed For Feb. 20

The UFC also announced on Tuesday that former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will take on the up and coming Tom Aspinall. The soon to be 42-year old Arlovski is currently on a two fight winning streak and will be making his 34th Octagon appearance. The Belarusan Pitbull is coming off decision wins over Tanner Boser and Philipe Lins last year.

Facing Arlovski is the promising Tom Apsinall who has a 9-2 overall record. The 27-year old Englishman is a former Cage Warriors lightweight champion who is currently 2-0 in the UFC. Aspinall knocked out Jake Collier in 45 seconds in his Octagon debut and then starched Alan Baudot in 97 seconds.

Also confirmed to be fighting in the February 20 card is The Ultimate Fighter Season 27 winner Mike Trizano. The 29-year old will be returning to the Octagon for the first time in two years. Trizano hasn’t competed since suffering his first career loss to Grant Dawson in May 2019. He will take on promotional newcomer Rafael Alves. The 30-year old from Para, Brazil is a former Titan FC lightweight champion. Alves earned a UFC contract after defeating Alejandro Flores at the Contender Series last August. The Brazilian has won his last five bouts heading to his Octagon debut.
