A-League rivalries begin this weekend
Macarthur FC and Wellington Phoenix face off for the first time ever this weekend with both sides finding their feet in this seasons A-League.
Macarthur began their inaugural A-League season with a win over Western Sydney Wanderers but fell to a disappointing loss against Central Coast Mariners last week to leave them on three points from two games. The side have looked dangerous in their opening two games though and with the likes of Benat on the pitch they will always have a chance of getting something from a game.
Wellington Phoenix have played just once so far, being defeated 2-1 against Sydney FC last weekend but they were more than a match for the champions and probably should’ve taken something from the game. Their new signing, Hemed, made his debut and he’s in line for his first start for them as they try and pick up their first points of the season this weekend.
It’s hard to know how this game will go with the season still in it’s early stages but based on the opening two weeks of the season, Wellington should be expecting to take something from this match. As such, we’re backing them to do just that with the Wellington Phoenix double chance our prediction for this match.
It should be a very tight game and we think Wellington should have enough in their attack to just squeeze a win and, if pushed for a correct score, we’d say a slender 1-0 win for the visitors would be the most likely outcome.
