NBA Betting Preview: LA Clippers vs. San Antonio Spurs – Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021

The Los Angeles Clippers are off to an impressive start this season, but the same can’t be said about the San Antonio Spurs. The two are set for a 10 pm ET tipoff on Tuesday night, and it should be an interesting matchup as the Spurs try to avoid a five-game losing streak.

The Spurs are currently 2-4 and don’t look like the same team that won their first two games. Their most recent 130-109 defeat to the Jazz was an embarrassing showing that they’ll need to correct moving forward. Things won’t be easy with LaMarcus Aldridge, Derrick White, and Quinndary Weatherspoon all out.

On the other hand, the Clippers are 5-2 to start the season and have won three of their last four. One of their losses came against the Utah Jazz, but it wasn’t a 21-point defeat like the Spurs faced. After what happened in last year’s bubble, the Clippers are hungry to prove themselves, and it’s going well so far.

San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview: Can the Spurs end their four-game losing streak?

The San Antonio Spurs need to focus on their strengths, especially without Aldridge out there. DeMar DeRozan is the leader of this team, and he needs to show it. He’s currently averaging 21.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.0 steal, and 0.7 blocks per game.

Keldon Johnson and Dejounte Murray are having productive seasons as well. Johnson has 16.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game this season. Murray has 15.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.5 steals.

LA Clippers Betting Preview: Will the Clippers win their second game in a row?

The LA Clippers are starting to find their chemistry out there, and it’s all flowing through Paul George. He’s averaging 25.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game this season and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Kawhi Leonard is also doing his thing, averaging 22.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. Serge Ibaka is the only other player averaging double-digit points for the Clippers, with 13.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. He’s been a nice energy boost for them.

Do you think the Spurs can finally end their losing streak, or will the Clippers stand in their way? BetOnline has the Los Angeles Clippers with an eight-point advantage over the San Antonio Spurs.

The San Antonio Spurs have been a disappointment in the Western Conference, while the Los Angeles Clippers have been the exact opposite. It would make sense to assume things go the Clippers’ way in this one, but we shouldn’t completely count out the Spurs. They can still make some noise on any given night.

DeRozan is going to play a big role in turning this ship around for the Spurs, and I think they’ll do it eventually. I just don’t think it’ll happen in this one against the Clippers. Expect that four-game losing streak to extend one more game, at least for now.
