NFL Betting Preview: Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals – Monday, Oct. 19, 2020

The nightcap of Monday night’s doubleheader will feature the 3-2 Arizona Cardinals in Dallas for a date with the 2-3 Cowboys inside AT&T Stadium to wrap up the Week 6 slate in the NFL. This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2017, an 11-point Dallas victory. Prior to that contest, the Cardinals had won four straight in the series, two of which were decided in overtime.

Front & Under Center

Kyler Murray makes his debut on Monday Night Football, though he is no stranger to Jerry’s World. He’s never lost inside the Cowboys home stadium, winning there five times in high school and twice more in college. Murray and the Cardinals got back on the winning track last week, handling the Jets with ease, 30-10, to snap a two-game skid. Kyler’s top target through the first five games has been top offseason acquisition, DaAndre Hopkins, who leads the league in both receptions (45) and receiving yards (528) entering Week 6.

From Dak to Dalton in Big D

The biggest news to come out of Week 5 was the unfortunate injury to Cowboys QB, Dak Prescott. Dak suffered a compound fracture in his leg that resulted in a broken tibia and fibula, ending a season in which he was leading the NFL in passing yards and primed for a huge contract. Dallas now turns the reins over to Andy Dalton, the former Bengal who started for nine years in Cincinnati. Despite being under .500, the Cowboys sit in first place in the NFC East, and could stay there, even with a loss, if the Eagles lose to the Ravens on Sunday.

Cardinals/Cowboys Betting Lines

MyBookie has the Cardinals as 1-point favorites on Monday, with an over/under of 55.5. The Cardinals are 3-2 ATS coming in, while the Cowboys have yet to cover the number on the season, a surprising 0-5 ATS.

Dak’s injury obviously stole all the headlines and dealt a huge blow to the NFL’s third-highest scoring team, but the Cardinals suffered a big loss of their own. Linebacker Chandler Jones, who has an NFL-high 97 sacks since 2012, injured his biceps against the Jets last week, and will be lost for the season as well. Tough news for a defense that’s allowed 28.5 PPG in their two losses, but just 15 in their three wins.
