Everyone Gets Into The Act

Ohio State has won three of its last four games, including blasting Nebraska 90-54 on Wednesday as a 13-point favorite at home.

Balance was the key for the Buckeyes in overwhelming the Cornhuskers. Ohio State had 10 different players score and five who reached double figures.

Junior Justin Ahrens came off the bench to toss in a game-high 18 points in 20 minutes. He went 6-of-9 from 3-point range.

Ahrens has taken 141 of his 159 career field goal attempts from beyond the arc.

Another reserve, freshman forward Zach Key, had 14 points in 14 minutes. Junior guard Duane Washington Jr. added 13 points, junior forward Justice Sueing chipped in with 12 and senior forward Seth Towns had 11 in 15 minutes off the bench.

Ohio State was 12-for-32 on 3-pointers, an encouraging sign for a team shooting just 31.8% from long range.

Another good sign for the Buckeyes was the 36-point win, even though sophomore forward E.J. Liddell had a season-low eight points. He is Ohio State’s leading scorer with a 14.4 average.

Washington is scoring 14.3 points a game and Sueing has an 11.0 average.

Junior guard Musa Jallow is questionable for the game after sitting out against Nebraska because of COVID-19 contact tracing. He is averaging 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in a reserve role.

Cold Minnesota

Minnesota had its three-game winning streak end with a 71-59 loss at Wisconsin on Thursday as an 8.5-point underdog.

Poor shooting did Minnesota in. The Golden Gophers shot just 31% from the field and 23% on threes. Furthermore, they missed their first nine shots from long range and 17 of their first 20 field goal attempts.

Wisconsin’s physical style and ball pressure gave Minnesota problems throughout.

The Badgers did a particularly good job of shutting down junior guard Marcus Carr, who had a season-low 10 points, well below his season average of 22.7. He made just three of 13 field goal attempts and was 2-for-8 from beyond the arc.

Carr did dish out seven assists and leads the team with 6.2 a game.

Junior guard Gabe Kalscheur topped Minnesota with 15 points. Senior forward Brandon Robinson and junior center Liam Robbins added 12 points and nine rebounds each.

Robbins is scoring 13.0 points and pulling down 7.0 rebounds a game and junior guard Both Gath has an 11.1 scoring average.

A Gopher Sweep

Minnesota swept the season series from Ohio State last season after losing seven of their previous eight games against the Buckeyes.

The Gophers won 84-71 at home as 7.5-point underdogs and 62-59 at Columbus as an 8.5-point dog.

Carr had 35 points and seven assists in the first game, and 21 points and seven assists in the return matchup. Kalscheur had a combined 28 points in the two games.

Look things to turn back Ohio State’s way in this one as the deeper Buckeyes eke out a close road win in what should be an intriguing game.

Pick: Ohio State -1.5 (-104)
