The Gulf Coast Casino Market In Billoxi Gets A New $1.2 Billion Dollar Boost For Jobs

More recently, the principal companies involved added some clarity to the $1.2 billion construction project. This collaboration is between the Universal Music Group and Dakia Global U-Ventures. Universal is the biggest music company in the world. The two came together as part of the new UMUSIC Resorts.

Initial locations of these hotels include Atlanta and Orlando. The Biloxi location will be the only casino resort. Company representatives released a timeline covering construction. The group also discussed the vision for the resort itself.

The new waterfront resort will be located on 266 acres near US 90. Construction is expected to get underway early in 2021. The target for completion is some time in 2023. Robert Lavia is the chairman of Dakia Global U-Ventures.

He laid out the plans for the Biloxi UMUSIC Resort.

  1. 1,150 total hotel rooms
  2. 2,500 permanent casino resort jobs
  3. 1,000 temporary construction jobs
  4. 12,000-seat entertainment complex
  5. 18-hole golf course and marina

The décor of the hotel and casino will revolve around music. Themed dining will be offered by celebrity chefs through their signature restaurants. The mayor of Biloxi is Andrew “FoFo” Finch. During a press conference at the Biloxi Visitors Center, he addressed the assembled crowd. He added that the new resort is expected to bring in more than 2 million visitors on an annual basis.

Mr. Lavia’s comments included “Wherever you look you’ll be wowed.” He also mentioned that security measures and health protocols will be prepared for whatever comes their way in the future.

The centerpiece of the property could be the soring glass music venue. Rated for winds of 160 miles an hour, this will contain a massive video board. The mayor joked that the video board would be visible from Ship Island. This is several miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to Lavia, the site was chosen based on “the rich, powerful music that has come from the region”.

Universal Music is a major player in the industry. The company’s aggressive plans could change the state’s image. This could also become a life-changing investment in this region of Mississippi. The company is connected to some of the biggest acts in the music industry. The list of potential performers at the new casino would be rather impressive.

Lavia added that the resort plans to utilize cutting edge technology as part of the presentation process. This includes artificial intelligence and holograms. Planned events include concerts, sporting events, and fashion shows headlining the list. Plans remain in the works for additional guest amenities to heighten the experience. He also expects the project to have an impact on local entertainers and other start-up firms.
