WATERBURY — Ramona (Marcano) Soler, 79, of Waterbury, entered into the gates of heaven on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Saint Mary’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of Manuel Soler of over 45 years.
Ramona was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, on Aug. 31, 1941, daughter of the late Ernesto and America (Andino) Marcano, and was one of six children. For over 15 years, Ramona worked as a mental health case manager for the State of Connecticut.
Everyone who knew Ramona could attest that she had a big heart, always welcoming everyone and anyone with open arms. Ramona could always be found in her garden, tending to the most beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables for the family to enjoy. She also loved playing bingo, dancing, and always had a smile on her face.
Among everything, Ramona adored her family, always putting them first and loved spending time with them all, especially her grandchildren. Ramona was always admired for the wisdom she gave to everyone. Her tenderness, love and care made Ramona the true heart of the family, and she is going to be deeply missed by all.
Besides her loving husband, Manuel, Ramona leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Pablo Rivera and his wife, Nancy, of Waterbury, Gloria Ortiz and her husband, Jose, of Waterbury, Yvette Soler and her husband, John, of Waterbury; her grandchildren, Jose Ortiz Jr. and his wife, Nicole, Reinaldo Ortiz, Joshua Rivera, Yahaira Ortiz, Jonathan Rivera, Melitza Rivera, Ana Iris Soler and her husband, Brendan Garcia, and Jordan Rivera; and her four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Gabriella, Jaxon and Bryce.
Arrangements: Calling hours for Ramona will be on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
