Happy 2021, finally! I can’t remember a new year that I was looking more forward to! Hopefully the rhythms of life will change and we’ll be experiencing things in a more normal fashion soon. January and February have some unique opportunities coming up.
At Penobscot Marine Museum
Jan. 8 and 22 have new Peek into Paintings programs. They start at noon on Facebook and are later available on YouTube.
If you are a member of PMM, you can take advantage of an interesting program, “Dressing for Winter,” at noon on Jan. 11. Curator Cipperly Good will present the stories of Searsport sea captain daughters Joanna Colcord and Antoinette Webber, who experienced Maine winters while their dads were at sea.
Not a member? Give the museum a call and join to take advantage of this and other programs every second Monday of the month.
Winter Wellness Bingo
I don’t know about you, but at the beginning of every year, I am looking for self- improvement ideas. A Winter Wellness Bingo program at Carver Memorial Library, featuring reading and self-care prompts you can do at home, will be starting next week and will run through the end of February.
I’ll have the details next week, but in the meantime, the librarians are looking for small gift items for prizes aimed at adults and teens like mugs, candles, chocolate, tea, fidget toys; you get the idea. If you can help, let Sue or Rhonda know or stop by the library.
