The $100,000 Say Florida Sandy Stakes will run as Race 3 on the Jan. 9 card at Aqueduct Racetrack.
The event for 4-year-olds and up will cover seven furlongs and include names like Funny Guy, Celtic Chaos, and My Boy Tate among the field of five.
Here is a look at the top runners set for the Say Florida Sandy Stakes.
Betting Preview: Funny Guy, Celtic Chaos
One of the leading entrants among the field is Gatsas Stables, R. A. Hill Stable and Swick Stable’s Funny Guy. The 4-year-old son of Big Brown is trained by John Terranova II.
He has a career record of 6-5-0 from 16 starts and earnings of $618,645.
He is coming off a Nov. 22 victory in the New York Stallion Series Stakes at Aqueduct, where he registered a 106 Speed Figure. He also finished fourth in the Oct. 24 Empire Classic Handicap at Belmont Park, second in the Sept. 26 Vosburgh Stakes (G2) also at Belmont, and fourth in the Aug. 29 Forego Stakes (G1) at Saratoga.
Funny Guy will break from post 1 under jockey Manuel Franco.
He will be up against Celtic Chaos, owned by La Marca Stable, Frank Witz, and Rudy Rodriguez. The 7-year-old son of Dublin is trained by Rodriguez as well.
He is 10-7-9 from 44 career starts with earnings of $741,131, making him one of the more experienced runners among the field.
His most recent performance was a third-place finish in a Dec. 11 allowance optional claiming race at Aqueduct, which followed a runner-up effort in another back on Oct. 23 at Belmont Park. His last stakes performance was a fifth-place run in the July 30 John Morrissey Handicap at Saratoga.
Celtic Chaos will have to overcome the outside post 5 under rider Jorge Vargas, Jr.
Betting Preview: My Boy Tate
Another horse to look out for is Little Red Feather Racing and Michelle Nevin’s My Boy Tate. The 6-year-old gelding from Boys at Tosconova is also trained by Nevin.
He has a career record of 7-5-2 from 20 starts and earnings of $466,288. In 2020, he already has one off-the-board finish.
That effort came in the Jan. 2 Gravesend Stakes at Aqueduct. To close out his 2020 season, My Boy Tate took second in the Nov. 22 New York Stallion Series also at Aqueduct, registering a 105 Speed Figure. His other performances include a Sept. 23 allowance win at Parx Racing, a runner-up effort in the Aug. 20 Tale of the Cat Stakes at Saratoga, and a third-place finish in the July 30 John Morrissey also at Saratoga.
My Boy Tate will break from post 3 under rider Jose Lezcano.
The rest of the field (post, jockey) is set to include: Our Last Buck (Post 2, K. Carmouche); and Runningwscissors (Post 4, D. Davis).

This race is setting up to be an exciting one, and Funny Guy looks like the one to beat. He has the upper hand against Celtic Chaos, who will be breaking from the outside post. Funny Guy is coming off a big victory at the track in the New York Stallion Series Stakes, and he will be looking to carry that speed into this race.
